I went to lovely client today. As with many of my clients, they had come up from Romford and bought a veritable mansion with the profits from the monies their property had accrued on the outskirts of London. My Father was born in Romford, Essex, so we immediately had some sort of affinity.
She requested that I do some upholstery work for her, two sofas, to be precise. I did my usual and presprayed the normal areas of high wear, namely the ends of the arms and the headrest areas. The arms were fine but the headrest cushion on the same seat position on both sofas was all shiny and matted with what looked like glue. I tried my usual 'trusted' methods but to no avail.
I went and spoke with my lady client to inform her of the situation whereupon she admitted that the trouble spots were most likely caused by her hairspray. She stated that, on occasion, she used standard soap to wash her hair prior to shampoo, purely to break down the hairspray which had accumulated. "Why not?" we asked ourselves, but again the 'glue' remained stubbornly in place.
She also said that as an alternative to soap, she would often wash her hair numerous times using just her normal shampoo. Once again, "Why not?" we heralded.
After 3 liberal coatings of Tresame shampoo, a good beating with my upholstery brush and working on with the wand, hot water and solution, hey presto; we'd done it! It worked and the sofa looked as good as new.
It just goes to prove that no matter how long you've been doing a task, there is always something new to learn....... or is it jus that Tresame cleans hairspray from upholstery?? :-)
Who knew?!?
